Clinical Trials
At EWR, we build and support sponsor relationships by
conducting high quality, cost-effective multispecialty clinical studies.
EWR's goal is to make clinical
trials accessible to Hawaii's people consistent
with our commitment to the ethical treatment and education of our patients.
In the past two years, East-West Research has successfully conducted numerous
Phase II through Phase IV clinical studies, working with most of the major pharmaceutical companies, some smaller ones, and many CROs (Clinical
Research Organizations).
Studies have been in the areas of types 1 and 2 diabetes, adolescent diabetes,
hypertension, renal disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and gastrointestinal
endoscopy. EWR consistently meets or exceeds enrollment
goals and, more importantly, has excellent retention of subjects who actually
complete all study visits. We have expertise in diabetes and its complications,
hypertension, hyperlipidemia, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, obesity, nutritional
problems, calcium disorders, thyroid disorders and cancer, polycystic
ovary syndrome, hormone replacement therapy, and kidney stones.
Dr. Fitz-Patrick also works
closely with other specialists whose offices are located on the same medical
campus and with whom he can collaborate on clinical trials in virtually
all medical specialty areas. This gives access to more than 300,000 patients
and combines EWR's expertise in conducting clinical trials
with the specialists' knowledge and patient base.
