In the past two years, East-West Research has successfully conducted numerous Phase II through Phase IV clinical studies, working with most of the major pharmaceutical companies, some smaller ones, and many CROs. Studies have been in the areas of types 1 and 2 diabetes, adolescent diabetes, hypertension, renal disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and gastrointestinal endoscopy. EWR consistently meets or exceeds enrollment goals and, more importantly, has excellent retention of subjects who actually complete all study visits. Examples of studies we have conducted include: * A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the renal protective effects of drug in patients with type 2 diabetes and nephropathy. * A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study of the safety and efficacy of drug in type 2 diabetic patients with dyslipidemia. * A multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled parallel-group study of the safety and efficacy of drug in pediatric subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus. * A Phase IV comparative outcomes study of drug versus conventional approach in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. * Active-comparator, double-blind placebo-controlled, parallel-group study to assess the safety and efficacy of drug in rheumatoid arthritis patients. * Active-comparator, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study to assess the safety and efficacy of drug in rheumatoid arthritis patients on NSAIDs. * A Phase II, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled parallel-group study of the safety and efficacy of drug in subjects with diabetic nephropathy.
